After two lackluster years in Buffalo, Zack Moss finally got a real opportunity with the Colts the last two seasons with Jonathan Taylor on the shelf for a combined 13 games. He made the most of those opportunities, especially last season. Moss was RB6 from Weeks 2-5, averaging 20.4 half PPR points per game. He registered an 84% snap share during those four games and got 24.3 touches per game. He's not the most efficient back, but he's a reliable vet with a lot of tread still left on his tires. That's one of the reasons the Bengals signed Moss this offseason and traded Joe Mixon to the Texans. The other is due to his success from shotgun in 11 personnel. Per Fantasy Points Data, Moss averaged 5.2 yards per carry out of that formation, and the Bengals were 2nd in the league in RB carries from shotgun in 11 personnel in 2023. That's a match potentially made in heaven. He likely immediately slots in as RB1 in Cincinnati with 2nd-year back Chase Brown as RB2. Moss also gives the Bengals an upgrade in pass protection. Per PFF, he had a pass-blocking grade of 60.4 in 2023, while Mixon's was just 29.7. Additionally, head coach Zac Taylor insinuated late last season that Brown might be overwhelmed on obvious passing downs. If that's true, Moss should see the field a ton in 2024. At 27 years old, Mixon was 3rd among all running backs in opportunity share (78.3%) and red zone touches (71). That could very well be Moss in 2024, and that would be exciting from a fantasy perspective. He's priced as an RB3, but could very well be an RB2 in his first season with the Bengals.
