Target Total Troubles For Tampa Bay’s Top Tight End
Otton has played the role of dependable safety valve during his first two seasons. He became a Tom Brady favorite towards the end of 2022 and then took his fantasy value a slight step forward in 2023 when he caught five more passes for 64 more yards and two more touchdowns than his rookie campaign. The bad news is he loses the target battle with Tampa Bay's top two wideouts, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, by a large margin. Both receivers had double the targets that Otton had last season, and there is no reason to think quarterback Baker Mayfield will not aim as often at his main men this upcoming season. The good news is if Evans or Godwin are unlucky with injuries, Otton could easily become the No. 2 target in Tampa Bay's passing attack due to the lack of depth in the receiving and tight end corps. Otton is no speed burner (9.5 career YPC), nor is he a red-zone master (six TD in 33 career contests). Where Otton provides fantasy value is in PPR leagues due to his receptions. He should be able to set career-highs across the board in 2024, but that is contingent on how the Tampa target breakdown works out this year. Otton is a TE2 who can provide 55 receptions for 600 yards and five touchdowns if everything breaks right for him.
